uControlEndpoint Agent
The uControl Insight endpoint agent is a small Windows and macOS agent that inventories devices Discovery can’t reach — roaming laptops, homeworkers and off-network machines. It reports hardware, the logged-in user, installed software, software usage and connected peripherals, and is deployable silently via Intune, SCCM, Jamf or any RMM.
What the agent collects
Check-in — hostname, primary user, public IP, operating system, and hardware (manufacturer, model, serial, CPU, RAM); laptops vs desktops are typed automatically.
Installed software — feeds the SAM inventory and licence reconciliation.
Software usage — last-launched date and launch count per application, which drives usage-based licence reclaim.
Peripherals — connected monitors, keyboards, mice and headsets over USB and Bluetooth, plus USB removable-storage detection for acceptable-use / data-loss compliance.
Devices the agent reports that aren’t already discovered are added automatically as End-User Compute assets — so homeworking laptops appear in the inventory without ever being on a scannable network.
Deploying the agent
In ITAM → Endpoint agent keys, issue an enrolment key (shown once — copy it).
Download the installer from the same page: the Windows installer (an Inno Setup
.exe) or the macOS installer (a.pkg), each with a ready-to-paste silent-install command.Deploy it to your fleet (Intune / SCCM / Jamf / RMM) with the enrolment key. The agent checks in at logon and every few hours.
Manage and revoke keys on the keys page; the ITAM → Endpoint agents dashboard lists every reporting machine and highlights any that have gone quiet.
Where the data appears
On a device’s asset page, the ITAM tab shows the latest check-in, its software usage and its peripherals; installed software flows into SAM.
