User Guide
This page is the entry point for using uControl Insight day-to-day. Detailed feature documentation lives under the linked pages.
Daily tasks
Sidebar → Dashboard — a one-screen view of asset counts, recent discovery runs, stale assets, top insights, and live flow counts.
Sidebar → Assets — searchable / filterable inventory. Use the amber Smart search bar (anywhere you see the ◆ mark, it’s an AI feature) for natural-language queries.
Sidebar → Topology — interactive graph of structural and flow-derived relationships.
Sidebar → Discovery → Runs — history of all discovery runs. Failing runs get an AI diagnosis card if AI is enabled.
AI capabilities
uControl Insight ships an AI assistant layer covering chat, smart search, per-asset narration, classification suggestions, flow-anomaly detection, and a daily Teams digest. See the AI Features page for what each capability does, where to find it, and how to use it.
Asset lifecycle
Assets automatically transition through ACTIVE → STALE → INACTIVE based on whether discovery keeps confirming they're reachable. You can manually Decommission or Reactivate from any asset's detail page (admin only). See the Asset Aging & Lifecycle page for details.
Network flow monitoring
If you've pointed your routers / firewalls at uControl Insight's NetFlow / IPFIX endpoints, you'll see flow peers on the topology map, traffic context on asset detail pages, and AI-narrated flow anomalies. See the Network Flow Monitoring page.
Microsoft Teams alerts
Scan failures and the daily AI digest can be posted to a Teams channel. See the Microsoft Teams Integration page for setup steps.
Interface, themes & navigation
Set your appearance preference (Light / Dark / Match system) from the ☾ / ☀ toggle in the sidebar footer or from Profile → Appearance. The choice is saved to your account and follows you across browsers and devices.
The interface is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian; set your language on your Profile page (the global default is under Settings → General).
Asset counts on the Home page and Inventory Dashboard are clickable — each tile drills through to the asset list filtered by the matching lifecycle state (Active, Stale, Inactive, Decommissioned) or by category / type.
See the Interface Guide page for the full walkthrough — status badge colours, AI feature markings, keyboard shortcuts, and accessibility aids.
